- Where to find it
- Inventory > Trade Offers > "Who can send me Trade Offers?". On mobile, follow the same steps in the Steam app.
- How to copy it
- Copy the whole address from the Trade URL field.
- Safety
- The URL lets people send you an offer, but not take your items.
- Changing the URL
- Creating a new one makes the old one stop working.
- Trade Protection
- CS2 items don’t have a trade hold, but you can’t trade away an item you received for 7 days.
Where to find your Steam Trade URL
The steps are the same in the Steam client and on steamcommunity.com. The field is at the bottom of your Trade Offers settings. Your Trade URL has its own field, so you don’t need to copy the browser address from your inventory page.
- Open your inventoryIn the Steam client or on steamcommunity.com, open your account’s Inventory.
- Trade OffersClick Trade Offers on the right.
- Trade offer settingsIn the menu on the right, select “Who can send me Trade Offers?”
- Trade URL fieldThe Trade URL field is at the bottom of the page. Copy the entire address and send it to a friend or paste it into a website.
Direct link to the page with your Trade URL
You can open the settings page at steamcommunity.com/id/me/tradeoffers/privacy. If you’re already signed in to Steam, it’ll open your account page. Find the Trade URL field and copy its contents.
The settings page URL and your Trade URL do different things. The first opens the page where you manage your Trade URL. The second lets someone send you a trade offer.
How to find your Steam Trade URL on your phone
In the Steam mobile app, follow the same steps as in the desktop client: open your inventory, tap “Trade Offers,” then select “Who can send me Trade Offers?” The “Trade URL” field is at the bottom of the page. Copy the entire link, including everything after token:. Without that part, the link won’t work.
If you can’t find the option in the app, open the direct URL from the section above in your phone’s browser and sign in to Steam. The same settings page will open, with the “Trade URL” field. This is the easiest way to paste the link into a website from your phone.
What is a Steam Trade URL?
A Trade URL lets someone create a trade offer with your account. Anyone on Steam can send you one through it, even if they’re not on your friends list. Without a Trade URL, only your friends can send offers. An offer doesn’t change your inventory unless you accept it.

A Trade URL looks like this: https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=...&token=... . The dots stand in for your account ID and the secret part of the URL. If a website asks for your Steam Trade URL, give it the entire address from the field, not just the number after partner.
- partner
- Your account number in the Trade URL.
- token
- The secret part of the URL. When you create a new one, Steam changes it and the old URL stops working.
How to change your Trade URL
The same page has a “Create New URL” button. Click it and Steam will generate a URL with a new token. The old one will stop working, so people can no longer use it to send you trade offers.
- Open the settingsThe “Who can send me Trade Offers?” page is where you’ll find your Trade URL.
- Create a new URLClick “Create New URL.” Steam will change the token, and the old URL will stop working.
- Update the URL everywhereCopy the entire new URL and replace the old one on websites and with friends who need it.
Changing your URL can help if you’re getting unwanted offers or it’s fallen into the wrong hands. Once you change it, anyone with the old URL can no longer send you a new offer through it. But websites you gave the old URL to for withdrawals will need the new one, too.
Is it safe to share your Trade URL?
Your trade link can’t be used to access your account, view private settings, or take your items. It only lets someone send you an offer. You decide whether to accept or decline, and you confirm any trade where you give away items in the Steam mobile app. If you don’t have an authenticator, you confirm it through an email instead.
The risk comes from accepting a trade without checking it or entering your details on a fake login page. We recommend checking every offer, even if it comes from someone you know. What matters most is which items you give and receive.
What to check before confirming a trade
- Who sent the offer, and whether it’s the person you made the deal with.
- Which items are leaving your inventory.
- Which items you’re receiving and whether they match your deal.
- Which trade you’re confirming through Steam Guard.
A request for your Trade URL isn’t the same as a request for your login details. Check the address on Steam’s sign-in page. The Steam name on the page doesn’t prove it’s legitimate.
Why a trade fails or gets held
First, figure out whether the issue is with your link or with item protection. An outdated link stops people from sending you offers through it. CS2 items don’t have a trade hold: they arrive as soon as you confirm the trade. But any item you receive is protected for 7 days, so you can’t trade it away during that time. Account restrictions can also prevent you from trading.
An old or incorrectly copied URL
Once you create a new URL, the old one stops working, whether a friend or a website has saved it. Open the Trade URL field and copy the current address again. If Caseway says the URL is invalid or outdated, check that field.
Account restrictions and Steam Guard
CS2 items don’t have a trade hold: they arrive as soon as you confirm the trade, even if you recently enabled the mobile authenticator or don’t have one at all. If Steam won’t let you trade, your account is restricted. This can happen if Steam Guard has been enabled for less than 15 days, you sign in on a new device without an authenticator (7 days), reset your password (5 days), remove your authenticator (15 days), or reverse trades through Trade Protection (30 days). Steam tells you why when you try to send an offer. A new trade link won’t remove these restrictions.
CS2 Trade Protection and reversing trades from the last 7 days
CS2 items received in a trade are protected for 7 days and marked with a yellow shield. You can use them in-game, but you can’t trade them, open them, modify them, or move them to storage. You can’t trade CS2 items for items from games that don’t have this protection in the same trade.
If your account is hijacked or you’re scammed, you can reverse all Counter-Strike item trades made in the last 7 days from your Steam account’s trade history page. This is part of CS2 Trade Protection, introduced on July 16, 2025, in the Season Two: Episode One update.
All trades involving protected items from the past 7 days are reversed. The items go back to their original owners, and the account that initiated the reversal loses access to trading and the Community Market for 30 days. The other party isn’t restricted, and even Steam Support can’t lift the ban. Only reverse trades if your account was hijacked or you were scammed.
Don’t change your link if trading is unavailable because of account restrictions or item protection. A new link won’t lift those restrictions, and you’ll have to update it on websites and share it with friends again.
Why skin websites need your Trade URL
Skin marketplaces and case websites need your Trade URL to send items to your Steam inventory. Their bot can send your account a trade offer without adding you as a friend. You can then review the offer and decide whether to accept it.
On Caseway, enter your Trade URL in your account settings before withdrawing skins. A note next to the field explains where to find the URL on Steam. Caseway checks whether trading is available and tells you if the URL is outdated, entered incorrectly, or your account has trade restrictions.
After changing your Steam Trade URL, update it in your account settings before your next withdrawal. Follow the website’s instructions. If the URL is invalid, you need the current one from Steam. If your items are on hold, check your authenticator.

Frequently asked questions
Where to find your Steam Trade URL
Open Inventory, then Trade Offers, and select “Who can send me Trade Offers?” The Trade URL field is at the bottom of the page. Copy the entire address from it.
How to find your Steam Trade URL on your phone
In the Steam app, open your inventory, then tap “Trade Offers” and “Who can send me Trade Offers?” The “Trade URL” field is at the bottom of the page. You can also open steamcommunity.com/id/me/tradeoffers/privacy in your phone’s browser and sign in to Steam.
Can someone steal your skins with your Trade URL?
The URL itself doesn’t give anyone access to your account or items. It only lets them send you an offer, which you can accept or decline. The risks come from accepting a trade without checking it or using a fake login page.
What happens if you create a new Trade URL?
Steam will generate a URL with a new token, and the old one will stop working. Update the URL on any websites where you used the old one. Send the new URL to friends who use it to send you trade offers, too.
Why can’t I trade, or why can’t I transfer an item?
CS2 items don’t have a trade hold: they arrive as soon as you confirm the trade. Any item you receive is protected for 7 days and can’t be traded away during that time. If Steam won’t let you send a trade offer, check for account restrictions: Steam Guard enabled for less than 15 days, signing in on a new device without an authenticator (7 days), a password reset (5 days), or a recent trade reversal through Trade Protection (30 days). Changing your trade link won’t remove these restrictions.
