CS2 Ranks: All Competitive Ranks in Order and Player Distribution

CS2 uses different rank systems in different modes. Premier gives you a single numeric rating, while Competitive assigns a separate rank for each map. This guide covers every rank, how players are distributed across them, and benchmarks you can use to compare your results.

How ranks differ across modes

CS2 has two main ranking systems: Premier's numeric rating and Competitive ranks. They show where you stand in different modes. Before comparing yourself with other players, check whether you're looking at a CS Rating or a rank for a specific map.

  • Premier has one CS Rating for the whole mode. Teams pick the maps: the first team picks one, the second picks two, then the first picks one more. The game randomly selects the match map from those four. That’s how it works as of September 22, 2026; before that, teams vetoed maps until one remained. Premier also has regional and global leaderboards, and runs in seasons.
  • Competitive: you get a separate rank for each map. For example, you might be Silver on Mirage and Master Guardian on Nuke.
  • Wingman: a 2v2 mode with its own ranks. Keep them separate from Premier ratings and Competitive ranks.
Warning

Don't equate a Premier color with a specific Competitive rank. They're separate systems: your numeric rating applies to the whole mode, while your rank applies to an individual map.

CS2 Premier Rating: Colors and Player Distribution

Your CS Rating color shows its rating range. The table below lists each color's range and the player distribution for August 2026, based on Leetify. The sample covers 2,807,357 players across all regions whose matches appear on the service, not every CS2 player.

Which rating is the most common?

The largest color group is blue, covering ratings from 10,000 to 14,999. But the most common individual range is 3,000–3,999, which accounts for 6.11% of the sample. Next come 14,000–14,999 at 6.10% and 9,000–9,999 at 5.87%.

There's no contradiction here. A color covers a wide range, while an individual tier is narrower. So the most common color group and the most common specific rating range answer different questions.

The median and top 10%

Half of the players in the sample have a rating below 12,000. The median falls in the 11,000–11,999 range. It's a useful benchmark for comparing your result with other players in the sample, but it doesn't separate good play from bad.

A rating of 20,000 or higher puts you among 10.96% of players. That's close to the top 10%, but not quite. At least 1.89% have reached 25,000, and 0.05% have reached 30,000. We think these rating thresholds are more useful for judging where you stand than color alone because they show how common a result is.

CS2 Ranks in Order: All 18 Tiers

Competitive has 18 ranks, from Silver I to Global Elite. They're listed below from lowest to highest. The shares come from Leetify's August 2026 distribution, which covers all regions and maps.

The overall table includes 4,086,077 players, each counted once, even though their ranks can differ from map to map. Leetify doesn't say which rank it uses for the overall table. Dust2 has the most players with a rank listed for an individual map, at 2,160,075, followed by Mirage with 1,883,042 and Inferno with 827,121.

What is the most common CS2 rank?

The most common individual rank is Silver I, at 17.01% of the sample. But most players aren't in that rank alone: the six Silver ranks together account for 58.14%.

  • Silver, all six ranks: 58.14%.
  • Gold Nova, all four ranks: 25.45%.
  • Master Guardian, all four ranks: 12.71%.
  • Legendary Eagle and above: 3.69%.

If you want a benchmark closer to the top of the distribution, Master Guardian II and above make up 11.92% of the sample. Compare your rank with that share on the map you play most often.

Why Silver ranks are so common in Competitive

Leetify doesn't give a reason, and the table alone can't tell us why. What stands out is the difference: in Premier, the lowest color, gray, covers ratings up to 4,999 and accounts for 19.42% of players. In Competitive, the six Silver ranks account for 58.14%. The modes use different scales: Premier has one rating for the whole mode, while Competitive assigns a rank to each map. Their shares aren't directly comparable.

The sample has a limitation: it includes players whose matches appear on Leetify, not every CS2 player. So the more precise takeaway is that more than half of Leetify players have a Silver rank.

How to rank up: where to start

First, decide which result you want to improve. To unlock Premier, you need Prime and a Counter-Strike profile level of at least 10. You’ll get your CS Rating after 10 wins in the mode. In Competitive, the goal is to earn a rank on a specific map. These are separate goals, so track them separately.

  1. If you don't have a Premier rating yet, start by getting 10 wins. That's the requirement for a rating to appear, not a promise of a particular CS Rating.
  2. For Premier, be ready to play several maps. Starting September 22, 2026, each team picks 2 maps from the pool, then the game randomly selects 1 of the 4. Picking a map you’re strong on makes it more likely you’ll play it, but it’s no guarantee. We think it’s smarter to prepare for more than 1 map: the map depends on both teams’ picks and luck.
  3. In Competitive, pick the map where you want to rank up and judge your progress there. A higher rank on another map won't replace it.

The distribution data can't tell you how many matches it will take to rank up or what result you'll get.

Tip

When comparing results, note the mode and, for Competitive, the map too. That way, you won't mix Premier's overall rating with ranks tracked separately for each map.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ranks are there in CS2?

Premier uses a numeric CS Rating with seven colors, from gray to gold. Competitive has 18 ranks, from Silver I to Global Elite, assigned separately on each map. Wingman has its own ranks.

What is the most common rank among CS2 players?

In Leetify's August 2026 sample, the most common individual rank is Silver I, at 17.01%. All six Silver ranks combined account for 58.14%. This is a sample of Leetify players, not all CS2 players.

What counts as a good Premier rating?

There's no single cutoff for a good rating. It depends on what you want to compare yourself with. In Leetify's sample, half of players have a rating below 12,000, while 10.96% have a rating of 20,000 or higher. We think the first figure is a useful benchmark against the middle of the distribution, and the second against its upper end.

How many wins do you need to get a Premier rating?

Your Premier rating unlocks after 10 wins in the mode. That’s the requirement for your first CS Rating, not a guarantee of a particular rating. In Competitive, your rank for a map appears after several wins on that map. According to Valve’s June 2024 notes, that took two wins. In January 2026, map ranks were reset, and they’re shown again once you reach the required number of wins. Valve hasn’t specified how many. The 10-win requirement applies only to CS Rating in Premier.
