StatTrak in CS2: What the Skin Counter Tracks
StatTrak™ is a skin version with a kill counter displayed on the weapon. The skin’s design stays the same; the only difference from the regular version is the counter. So when comparing two identical skins, you’re choosing between the same design with or without an extra feature.
According to Caseway Wiki, one in every ten items from a case is StatTrak™. These versions are less common than regular ones and usually cost more. Gloves don’t come with StatTrak™, so there’s no counter version to look for.
The StatTrak™ label doesn’t indicate a skin’s wear level. When checking prices, compare both the version and the item’s condition—for example, a regular Field-Tested skin with its StatTrak™ Field-Tested counterpart. Otherwise, the price difference will include more than just the counter.
Where Do CS2 Souvenir Skins Come From?
A Souvenir in CS2 is a weapon version with gold team stickers, a player autograph, and the map from a Major match. Souvenir items used to drop from souvenir packages obtained with a Viewer Pass. At IEM Cologne 2026, Valve changed the process: in the Souvenir-O-Matic, players can choose a weapon from their inventory, a completed match, and a player. The weapon then permanently becomes a Souvenir, for a fee, and its existing stickers are removed. Souvenir describes how the item was obtained, not a kill counter. Caseway Wiki lists prices for these versions separately from regular and StatTrak™ versions.

StatTrak™ and Souvenir can’t be combined on the same item. They’re separate versions: one has a kill counter, while the other is a Souvenir version from a tournament package. If you see multiple prices for the same skin, they’re for different versions—not features that can be combined.
The Souvenir label alone doesn’t mean an item is expensive. For example, the MP5-SD | Lab Rats Souvenir versions listed below start at $0.42. Check the price for the specific skin and wear level rather than judging by the label alone.
Prices for Regular, StatTrak™, and Souvenir Versions
The prices below are Steam prices in US dollars, based on the seven-day median sale price; table values are updated daily. Rare versions may have few sales, so a single price shouldn’t be treated as a reliable market value.
Wear names: Factory New (FN), Minimal Wear (MW), Field-Tested (FT), Well-Worn (WW), and Battle-Scarred (BS). In the tables, “No price” means only that no value is listed; it doesn’t prove that the version doesn’t exist.
AWP | Atheris: regular and StatTrak™ at the same wear level
AWP | Atheris has a StatTrak™ version, which makes it a good skin for comparing the two. In Field-Tested condition, the regular version costs $5.69, while the StatTrak™ version costs $10.38. Compare versions in the same table row to isolate the counter’s effect on the price.
| Wear | Regular | StatTrak™ |
|---|---|---|
| Factory New | $36 | $40 |
| Minimal Wear | $8.91 | $19 |
| Field-Tested | $5.22 | $9.70 |
| Well-Worn | $4.42 | $7.77 |
| Battle-Scarred | $4.14 | $7.64 |

StatTrak™ isn’t always more expensive. For Dual Berettas | Melondrama at the same wear level, StatTrak™ costs $7.21, compared with $7.68 for the regular version. For FAMAS | Rapid Eye Movement, it’s $6.90 versus $7.64. Check the StatTrak™ premium for each skin instead of assuming it always applies.

MP5-SD | Lab Rats: Souvenir versions from $0.42
Only Souvenir prices are listed for MP5-SD | Lab Rats. You can compare prices across wear levels, but you can’t work out the premium over the regular or StatTrak™ version because their prices aren’t included.
| Wear | Souvenir |
|---|---|
| Factory New | $0.54 |
| Minimal Wear | $0.39 |
| Field-Tested | $0.39 |
Check the current prices on the MP5-SD | Lab Rats page. Compare each wear level separately: the lowest item price doesn’t represent the cost of every wear level.

To compare versions, open the same skin and select the same wear level. This helps you separate the price difference between regular, StatTrak™, and Souvenir versions from differences in item condition.
How StatTrak™ and Souvenir Items Work in Trade-Up Contracts
- StatTrak™ + StatTrak™: the result is StatTrak™. Since October 23, 2025, this also works for knives: five Covert StatTrak™ items trade up to one StatTrak™ knife, while five regular items trade up to a regular knife or Gloves from the collection of one of the selected items.
- Souvenir with regular items: the result is a regular skin.
- StatTrak™ can’t be mixed with regular or Souvenir versions.
Before building a contract, check your selected items in the CS2 Trade-Up Calculator. A version label determines compatibility; it’s not just another price listing.
StatTrak or Regular: Which Version Should You Choose?
In our view, start by considering why you want a particular version. Paying extra for StatTrak™ makes sense if you want a counter on your weapon. If you only care about the skin’s design, the counter doesn’t change it, and the regular version often costs less—as with AWP | Atheris above.
- StatTrak™ — if you want a kill counter on your skin or are building a contract that gives a StatTrak™ result.
- Souvenir — if the item’s origin as part of a tournament Souvenir Package matters to you.
- Regular — if you want the skin without a counter or Souvenir label.
There’s no fixed premium for a particular version: the comparison depends on the skin and its wear level. Check prices for each version in the CS2 Skin Wiki. Don’t assume a more expensive version is automatically a better fit, or that its current price guarantees future value.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Does StatTrak Count in CS2?
StatTrak™ tracks kills and displays the count on the skin itself. For Music Kits, it tracks MVP awards instead. You can swap the counts between two StatTrak™ items with a StatTrak™ Swap Tool. Swap Tools and Name Tags bought after November 13, 2025, can’t be traded or sold on the Community Market. The skin’s design stays the same as its regular version. Gloves don’t come with StatTrak™.
Why Is StatTrak More Expensive Than a Regular Skin?
StatTrak™ is less common than the regular version and adds a kill counter: one in every ten items from a case is StatTrak™. It usually costs more, but check the premium for each skin at the same wear level. There’s no fixed markup across all items.
Where Do Souvenir Skins Come From?
Souvenir versions appear during Major tournaments. They used to come from Viewer Pass souvenir packages. At IEM Cologne 2026, you can turn your own weapon into a Souvenir in the Souvenir-O-Matic by choosing a completed match and a player. Caseway Wiki lists their prices separately from regular and StatTrak™ versions. A contract with Souvenir items gives you a regular result, not a new Souvenir.
Can a Skin Be Both StatTrak and Souvenir?
No. StatTrak™ and Souvenir are separate versions and can’t be combined on the same item. StatTrak™ means the item has a kill counter, while Souvenir is a weapon version with Major tournament stickers. You can’t mix these versions in a trade-up contract either.
