How we picked the best AK-47 skins
In this guide, “best” means popular by sales value: we look at how much money changes hands in sales of regular versions across all wear levels over a week. This isn’t a ranking of finishes or a list of the most-sold skins. The approach keeps the cheapest options from taking over the whole selection simply because they sell in higher volumes.
We picked four skins for each price tier. The “starting at” price is the seven-day median Steam sale price, as of October 1, 2026, for the cheapest regular version with sales. Prices change, so we also list the wear level: the minimum price applies to that wear level, not every condition of the skin.
The sales column covers all wear levels of the regular version combined, not just the wear shown in the neighboring cell. More transactions generally mean a price closer to market value and a quicker sale. But this measures market activity, not the number of listings currently available.
- Sales value
- The total value of sales for a skin over the selected period.
- Median
- The price in the middle of the sales range when transactions are ordered from lowest to highest.
- Float
- The numerical wear value of a specific skin item.
Cheap AK-47 skins under $5
This tier includes skins from four different collections. AK-47 | Slate, AK-47 | Midnight Laminate, and AK-47 | Breakthrough are Restricted, while AK-47 | Elite Build is Mil-Spec Grade. All four sell actively, so a low price here doesn’t mean the skin rarely changes hands.
| Skin | Rarity | Starting price | Wear at this price | Collection | Sales in the past week, all wear levels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Restricted | from $4.15 | Well-Worn | The Snakebite Collection | 10,774 | |
| Restricted | from $2.60 | Battle-Scarred | The Ascent Collection | 7,981 | |
| Mil-Spec Grade | from $1.70 | Battle-Scarred | The Chroma 2 Collection | 8,197 | |
| Restricted | from $2.20 | Battle-Scarred | The Achroma Collection | 5,430 |
AK-47 | Slate’s lowest price is for a Well-Worn skin; the lowest prices for the others are for Battle-Scarred skins. This distinction matters: comparing only skin names and “starting at” prices can hide the fact that you’re looking at different wear levels. When choosing a specific item, first decide what wear you’re comfortable with.
AK-47 | Slate has the most sales of these four, while AK-47 | Elite Build has the lowest starting price. In our view, they’re two useful points of comparison: the first represents the most active market in the tier, and the second sets its lowest budget threshold. Rarity alone is no substitute for comparing price and sales activity.
Options from $5 to $50: Crane Flight, Aphrodite, and more
Here, AK-47 | Crane Flight is Classified, while AK-47 | Aphrodite, AK-47 | Head Shot, and AK-47 | Legion of Anubis are Covert. The lowest prices for all four are for Battle-Scarred skins. Moving up to this tier means a higher budget, but not necessarily more sales.
| Skin | Rarity | Starting price | Wear at this price | Collection | Sales in the past week, all wear levels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classified | from $8.90 | Battle-Scarred | The Dead Hand Collection | 4,851 | |
| Covert | from $12 | Battle-Scarred | Not specified | 3,324 | |
| Covert | from $29 | Battle-Scarred | The Revolution Collection | 1,147 | |
| Covert | from $37 | Battle-Scarred | The Fracture Collection | 1,009 |
AK-47 | Crane Flight and AK-47 | Aphrodite sell more often than the other two skins in this tier. But the higher rarity doesn’t make AK-47 | Aphrodite the sales leader: Classified is still ahead. If market activity matters to you, compare the sales column separately from rarity and collection.
In our view, it makes more sense to start with a price that fits your budget and the look of the specific item than to stretch your budget just to get a Covert skin. AK-47 | Head Shot and AK-47 | Legion of Anubis come from different collections, but collection membership alone doesn’t tell you which one is right for you.
Skins from $50 to $500: what changes with a bigger budget?
All four skins in this tier are Covert, but their sales volumes vary considerably. AK-47 | Nightwish, AK-47 | The Empress, AK-47 | B the Monster, and AK-47 | Vulcan come from different collections. Their starting prices are all for Battle-Scarred skins: a higher price doesn’t necessarily mean better wear.

| Skin | Rarity | Starting price | Wear at this price | Collection | Sales in the past week, all wear levels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Covert | from $71 | Battle-Scarred | The Dreams & Nightmares Collection | 1,414 | |
| Covert | from $112 | Battle-Scarred | The Spectrum 2 Collection | 251 | |
| Covert | from $52 | Battle-Scarred | The Overpass 2024 Collection | 181 | |
| Covert | from $126 | Battle-Scarred | The Huntsman Collection | 56 |
AK-47 | Nightwish has considerably more sales than the other three skins. AK-47 | B the Monster has the lowest starting price in this group, while AK-47 | Vulcan sells less often despite its higher price.
In our view, it’s especially useful to separate two questions in this tier: do you like the specific item, and how actively is the skin traded? A high price doesn’t guarantee a quick sale. If being able to sell the item later matters to you, don’t skip the sales column.
How to choose wear and avoid overpaying for a version
Compare AK-47 skins at the same wear level and with the same version. The “starting at” price helps you shortlist options by budget, but it doesn’t show the price of a Factory New or StatTrak™ item. The difference between versions of the same skin can be significant.
Wear and Float: the AK-47 | Crane Flight example
AK-47 | Crane Flight has a Float range of 0 to 1. Below, you can compare the regular Battle-Scarred, Field-Tested, and Factory New versions, as well as two StatTrak™ listings. Sales here are shown for a specific wear level and version, so they can’t be directly compared with the combined sales figures in the tables above.
| Wear | Version | Price | Sales in the past week |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battle-Scarred | Regular | $8.90 | 1,078,187 |
| Field-Tested | Regular | $16 | 1,516,577 |
| Factory New | Regular | $60 | 70 |
| Battle-Scarred | StatTrak™ | $18 | 191 |
| Factory New | StatTrak™ | $132 | 9 |
The same AK-47 | Crane Flight can fall into different price tiers depending on its condition and version. Check your budget after choosing a specific listing, rather than relying on the skin name alone.
Comparing regular and StatTrak™ versions
The Caseway Wiki lists 61 AK-47 skins, 34 of which have a StatTrak™ version. Check whether the skin you’ve chosen has one, and compare prices at the same wear level.
Don’t assume the “starting at” price applies to the specific item you like. Different wear or a StatTrak™ version could put the same skin outside your budget.
How to compare Steam with other marketplaces
The tables in this guide give you a Steam price reference. To compare listings, open all AK-47 skins in the Wiki and make sure you’re looking at the same item: same name, wear, and version. The price of a regular Battle-Scarred skin isn’t a useful reference for a Factory New StatTrak™ version.
We’d choose in this order: set a budget, find a specific item whose look you like, then check its wear and version against your budget. Finally, check sales activity. This helps you avoid paying extra for a feature you don’t need and keeps a high price from being mistaken for an easy resale.
Before comparing marketplaces, note the skin name, wear, and version. This saves time: you’ll be comparing like-for-like items, not different versions of the same skin.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most popular AK-47 skin?
AK-47 | VariCamo Grey leads by sales of regular versions across all wear levels, with 16,169 sales in the seven days ending October 1, 2026. That doesn’t make it the leader by sales value: the selection above is based on sales value within each price tier.
What is the most expensive AK-47 skin?
The most expensive AK-47 listing with sales during the week was AK-47 | Fire Serpent in Field-Tested condition: $895.81, with four sales. This is the median Steam sale price over the seven days ending October 1, 2026. It refers to an item that sold, not the highest price of any active listing.
Which AK-47 skins cost less than $5?
The first tier includes AK-47 | Slate, AK-47 | Midnight Laminate, AK-47 | Elite Build, and AK-47 | Breakthrough. AK-47 | Slate’s starting price is for a Well-Worn skin; the others are Battle-Scarred. Different wear levels or versions may cost more.
Do AK-47 skins have StatTrak™ versions?
Yes. The Caseway Wiki lists a StatTrak™ version for 34 of the 61 AK-47 skins. Not every skin has one, so check the specific skin you’re interested in. The comparison above shows the regular and StatTrak™ versions at the same wear level for AK-47 | Crane Flight.
