The most practical change in Valve’s announcement concerns grenade lineups. To see the grenade crosshair during freeze time before a round starts, hold down any attack button while holding a grenade. Valve specifically links this feature to instant smokes: you can line them up before the round begins. This changes what the crosshair displays; it doesn’t let you throw grenades during freeze time.
Valve also fixed how weapon inaccuracy and spread are displayed while shooting. It’s important to distinguish between what the crosshair shows and how the weapon behaves: the changelog says the display was fixed, not the weapon’s accuracy. If you use a dynamic crosshair, check how it displays inaccuracy after the update before changing your usual settings.
The settings menu now lets you choose an outline color and adds the Static Quadrant style. The classic dynamic crosshair now supports a negative gap, and its opacity can be adjusted in increments of 0.01. These options give you more control over the crosshair’s visibility and shape. It’s best to test them one at a time: start with the outline, then adjust the gap and opacity. That makes it easier to see which setting helps the crosshair stand out against the map.
The way you share crosshair settings has also changed. The new crosshair code includes the scope dot’s size and color, and Valve has changed the code format to accommodate the extra options. If you share your crosshair with a teammate, generate a new code after adjusting these settings. The announcement doesn’t say how older codes are handled, so this update alone isn’t enough to conclude that they’re incompatible.
Outside the crosshair settings, Valve made various clipping fixes on the Rush maps. The announcement doesn’t list the specific areas. After installing the update, the main things to check are your usual in-game crosshair, including its dynamic display, the new outline options, and the grenade crosshair before the round starts. When sharing crosshair codes, also check the scope dot’s color and size.
